The clock is ticking for ISDN as the NBN rollout continues across Australia. If your business is still running on the copper ISDN network – it’s time to make a move.
As of 30 September 2019, the NBN will commence the progressive disconnection of existing copper Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) services. Telstra and other phone carriers began phasing out the sale of ISDN back in June 2018, but the service has still been available to existing customers.
By 2022, Telstra customers with ISDN fibre connections will also be switched off, at which point the full ISDN network will be decommissioned.
What should your business be doing in preparation for this?
If you’re one of the 80,000 businesses in Australia yet to migrate to a new solution, don’t delay – take action now and be prepared before the ISDN disconnection begins. Failing to do this may impact your business. As thousands of other businesses scramble to switch over at the same time, it’s likely to cause a bottleneck in service delivery, causing profound delays. Ensure you have sufficient time to source and install your new equipment to minimise any downtime to your business.
